Zahl's Elevator and Feed Mill is more than a feed store!   We rent U-Haul trucks and trailers, hold an annual Chick Days and Perennial Flower swap, sell pool supplies.

CHICK DAYS

You can order chicks at anytime, but must order a minimum of 25 birds and there is a shipping charge.  Give us a call if you are interested in some early or late order chicks!

We are going to have multiple Chick Days for 2022:

May 4, 2022, orders due April 15

July 13, 2022 orders due by June 24

 You can choose from a variety of laying chicks, meat birds, ducks, and turkeys. There is no minimum quantity to order for these days. A deposit of 50% is expected at time of order. All chicks are sold as is.  You are welcome to call and pay with credit card for deposit.  There is no shipping charged if ordered for Chick Days.

Chicken Care 101

• A brooder with around 18" wall height should be set up and can contain them for several weeks
• The temperature should read 95 degrees F under the light for the first 2 weeks.  You can decrese that temperature by 5 degrees each week until you reach 65 degrees.  At this point, the may not need an additional heat source depending on the weather.  *Turkeys and Guineas need to start at 100 degrees.
• Select a nutritionally balanced feed for the type of chicks you have purchased and supply them with awater and feed all the time.
• Clean and disinfect your feeders and waterers weekly to reduce disease risk.
• Upon arrival, dip their beaks into their water source.  This teaches them where to find their water and encourages them to hydrate quicker after shipping.  Make sure they have continuous fresh water available.
• Use proper bedding. Do NOT use sawdust or news paper which can harm your chicks.  Pine shavings are preferred.  Be sure to add additional bedding as needed and replace altogether once completely soiled.

U-HAUL RENTALS

U-Haul offeres a variety of trucks and trailers for rent.  There are box trucks, covered trailers, auto transports and dollies, ramp trailers, appliance dollies, and furniture pads.  You can rent trucks or trailers for intown or one way.  Give us a call for your next move!

 PERENNIAL FLOWER SWAP

What to do:  Bring your perennial starts on Thursday or Friday.  All starts must be labeled with the flower's name, sun preference, and color.  Please have the starts in a disposable container.  We will then sort them according to labels.  For every start you bring, you will receive a ticket.  Come in on Saturday with your tickets to receive some new starts.
